Olu of Warri Unveils Royal Iwere Society
As part of the 1st Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty, Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, the Iwere Music Concert held on August 18th was an electrifying and historic occasion at Brown Hill Hall, Ogunu, Warri.
The venue brimmed with color as attendees donned regal Itsekiri attire, setting the stage for a night of captivating performances by the Royal Iwere Choir and renowned musical talents. A powerful poetic tribute honored His Majesty and the enduring spirit of the Iwere people.
In stirring words, His Majesty was praised as one raised from the cradle to lead—“Royalty Per Excellence” who is ushering in an African renaissance with both vision and grace.
Sitting resplendently beside Her Highness, Olori Atuwatse III, His Majesty extended a warm royal welcome and announced new initiatives for the kingdom. Foremost was the launch of the Royal Iwere Society, a visionary body aimed at igniting “a new unprecedented greatness in the Kingdom.”
A key feature of the society is the creation of a Central Resource Center dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the Iwere identity, history, and cultural practices. The Society will host debates, lectures, drama, and artistic outreach to help children connect with their heritage and grow into confident cultural stewards.
The concert was preceded by the Royal Games at the Palace and will be followed by a Medical Outreach program as part of the anniversary activities. Through such initiatives, His Majesty continues to redefine the essence of royalty—anchored in service, culture, and transformational leadership.
