Sword of Faith Presentation in Aberdeen

Sword of Faith Presented to His Majesty in Aberdeen

The Aberdeen Royal Mission in honour of Mary M. Slessor was pleased to present to His Majesty Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatse III, as the foremost representative of the Warri Kingdom, a Sword of Faith (of Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland, 1306–1329) as a symbol of an unbreakable bond between Aberdeen and the Warri Kingdom.

In Nigeria, men too numerous to mention have continued to work hard for the upliftment of our dear nation and humanity at large. His Majesty Ògíamẹ̀ Atuwatse III CFR, who stands tall in the midst of patriots, was yesterday singled out and presented with the prestigious Sword of Faith along with a commemorative Holy Bible.

At the well-attended ceremony, His Majesty and Her Highness Olori Atuwatse III were flanked by His Excellency Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Isola, the Nigerian High Commissioner to the UK; honored chiefs from Warri Kingdom; dignitaries of the Scottish nation; sons and daughters of Warri; and well-wishers.

The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of the city of Aberdeen, Graham Guyan, before making the presentation, recognized His Majesty as a man of faith who believes in the Word of God in the discharge of his role as the king over the Warri Kingdom—an attribute upon which the nation of Scotland was also founded.

His Excellency Ambassador Isola, while expressing delight, commended the warmth of the Scottish people. The ambassador conveyed the gratitude of the Federal Government of Nigeria for the gesture and expressed hope that more accolades would come to Nigeria through her citizens around the globe, especially in the United Kingdom where he currently represents our nation.
